Candle Making Wick Size Selection Guide from FullMoons Cauldron

As soon as possible we will provide a list of burn diameters for each size of our MP Multipurpose wick ™ for all of our waxes. These lists should be used as a rough guide only as many things can effect the size of wick you need to use, i.e. dyes, fragrances, additives and application so testing as always is advised. To start, select a wick just below the diameter of the candle you wish to make. We suggest having three different sizes of wick and make a candle with each size. When you burn the candles 24 / 48 hrs later, at the same time, it will be easier to compare the different sizes of wick to see which will work best in your application.
The list below will give you a good starting point for what size wick to use with each of our containers with our various waxes along with the approximate burn time of the candle. Don't forget, anything you add to the wax i.e. colours, fragrances, may effect the size of wick you need and the end burn time.

The size of wick you need varies depending on the type of wax, pour temperature, mould, container, additives etc etc.

As with colours and fragrances, the rule is test, test, test! before making a large batch!
